    Okay, let's keep this simple.

I just want to know if you agree that "If a FastPass ticket is used by someone on an attraction (as it works now), the Standby line will automatically slow down as a direct result."

    Yes or no.

You don't have to like it, you don't have to say whether it's fair or not, just whether you agree that the effect actually occurs.

    Thank you.

I agree with Shooba. Is the overall wait time in today's standby line longer than the pre-FP line would have been? I don't think it is - it just moves slower.

Is it my imagination or are they issuing more FP tickets nowadays?

But that effectively nullifies the entire purpose of FP. In essense, you would just have two regular lines.

I asked this question in a earlier post because I think that they Disney maybe handing out more FP's. I have no facts to support this but for the first time a couple of weeks ago I encountered longer than usual lines while in Fast Pass lines.

the standby line today is not = to what the standby line would be like without FP.

Well, technically, without FP, there's no such thing as a standby line - it's just the line.

Anyway, my party was in the stanby line for Kilimargero Safari when well over one hundred people walked up the Fast Pass line. They were all wearing name tags from the Home Builders Association. It took my party 2 hours in line before we actually got to one of the ride vehicles. That particular day was also when DAK was to have EMH and shut down late for on property guests. We decided to try KS again and see the animals at sunset. So.... back into the standby line. The Fast Pass tickets were sold out much earlier in the day ( sometime in the morning ). So we are in the stanby line and again, this time hundreds of people wearing name tags got into the Fast Pass line. We waited 90 minutes this time around. The park was officially closed. Something was going on over at Everest as CM were setting up tables and food. We could see people walking along the track for Everest. I don't know what was going on there... when we exited KS we were escorted out of the park.

There is no way that ALL these people had Fast Pass tickets ( all at the same time ). Disney had to be giving these people passes to get on KS. Which led to tempers rising for those of us in the standby line.

    BAD SHOW

and I would agree, and my guess is your assessmentis right on Disney i am sure used the FP line to move their VIP guests in quickly --

in the old days they would just have put them in the front of the line...

same result -- but a misuse of the FP line - agreed

BTW, many times the FP line is "slow" because of a breakdown on the attraction backing things up.

I have not personally experienced it, but I have seen pictures on several occasions where the FP lines in Tokyo for Pooh's Hunny Hunt and Buzz (at least right when it opened) were over 30 minutes. And that's the wait just to get the ticket. You still have to wait several hours after that to actually get on the ride. Seems strange to me, but I guess that is just the way that the Japanese culture works.
