And I know I've violated my own advice here, but ignore/report/don't even acknowledge is the only way to go. As I said once before, they're the equivalent of an obscene phone caller. As much as you'd like to tell them off, the ONLY thing that robs them of their power is simply to hang up. If we all do that, eventually they will just "call" someone else (i.e. another message board) where they can get some sort of reaction. It's harder to do when they post on the Disney boards; harder to recognize it's them to begin with for both us and the mods. But as soon as you "get" who it is, just don't engage.

Guilty as charged. But, I'd rather "satisfy" the troll (for whatever pathetic pleasure he takes from it) by engaging with it, rather than ignore or treat badly a GENUINE newcomer who knows nothing of the crap that this piece of garbage loves to fling, and is otherwise just trying to join into the conversation despite the bad timing. My bad for naivety, I suppose, but I would do the same with any other newcomer rather than allow the troll to force all new voices into silence...his moronic racism and hatred sloughs up to the top like a rancid, flithy scum lingering over the top of good conversation soon enough, no matter how he tries to smooth it over. He's not capable of anything more, that much is obvious.

Yeah - it's a headache, but most of us have been around long enough to remember what a headache it was when he was a regular poster. In the end it's just a minor nuisance. I agree that we should not take the bait and just ignore the posts altogether. But I also want to caution against overreaction. This guy falls into the 'broken shoelace' or 'hangnail' level of annoyance - in the big picture, he's small potatoes.

Why would you give any newcomer who is obviously trying to bait, agitate and disrupt the benefit of the doubt? This isn't Sunday school.

His latest sock puppet who started on the Disney boards was obnoxious (as Hans soon found out) but I thought it was just "Disney-geek" obnoxious of the "I'm the only person who really knows how good or bad this ride actually is" sort that show up periodically. (Hans): "Why would you give any newcomer who is obviously trying to bait, agitate and disrupt the benefit of the doubt? This isn't Sunday school. " It's an awfully fine line sometimes. Disney geeks can get very passionate in their Disney-geekiness and hard to distinguish from trolls, let alone this particular troll. I guess all one can say is: when it becomes obvious that the person is just baiting and goading like a troll, stop feeding. And when you realize it's Beau specifically: hang up, report, don't engage.

Clearly you are a genius and I am dumb. That's okay with me (I'm feeling dumb these days for far better reasons than this one, anyway).

That should be an immediate red flag from now on. Spokker is right. I think we should all agree as a community to at least vet any contentious new poster by verifying the day they joined. In the meantime the webmasters could do us all a favor by the site an overhaul. It's way overdue.
Originally Posted By Mr X ***On the first day that they join? That should be an immediate red flag from now on*** Don't you think that's unfair, though? Talk about letting the terrorists win! All they want is to stifle legitimate voices (and Beau is as much a 'net terrorist as Atta was an aviation terrorist). Both anti-American, both hideous, and both deserving of condemnation!

I guarantee the person/persons do everything they can to see someone post that oh so satisfying "Reported" post.

Typically, they've been kicked off other sites and come here to "enlighten" LP on all things Disney. But quickly wear out their welcome here too. I guess that's its own sort of trolling, though, quite apart from Beau. But in that case, a "hey, slow down, dude" post might be more appropriate than anything else. Which is essentially what you tried to do, Hans. Only to be met by abuse - which made it obvious.

I mean, this is clearly someone with no life, not much else going on in their world. They've probably lost their job, don't have much of a family, etc. The desperate cry for attention borders on the sad. Nothing you can do about it. Just let it go and be grateful it's not your life and perhaps pause for a moment of pity.

The inability of some posters to not respond to the troll tells me more about them and does nothing to change my opinion about the troll.
