In my opinion, the Sex Pistols don't even deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My reason? I've listened to their sole album{more times than I've cared to},I've read magazine articles,I've seen documentaries, and all that I've seen and heard has irretreivably convinced me that they lacked the one element that,if it isn't among the criteria for the R&RHoF,it should be---TALENT.All they had going for them, that kept them in the public eye, albeit briefly, was attitude and an ability to shock. If you recall,in the mid-90's,Andrew Dice Clay had that---I have yet to hear anyone refer to him as a comic genius. I'm more than aware that rock n' roll has never been about socially acceptable music. There were many in the mid-50's who wanted to see Bill Haley run out of the country.I myself am too old to appreciate today's rock, like contemporary martyrs Kurt Cobain and Tupac Shakur, but even I believe those two deserve recognition in the R&RHoF,assuming they haven't already---the Sex Pistols,in direct contrast,do not.All their onstage theatrics, all their public ranting and ravings---none of this fully concealed the fact that, musically, they were incompetent.Their brief existance and controversal circumstances surrounding the death of their frontman, were these factors in their being chosen, shouldn't justify this decision.Anyone can be controversial---musical talent is a rare gift. One that the Sex Pistols did not have.

They may not want to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but if the aim of the Hall is to tell the complete story of Rock & Roll, the Sex Pistols have to be in there.

Now if they really wanted to be tough punksters they should go to the ceremony, get up in front of everyone, and tell them all what tools they are.
