Haven't regretted either purchase EVER! They're great fun, and like LB said, they're a great little tourguide. Also, you can play games with him or have him tell you jokes when he's not acting as a tourguide.

I put a bit if ribbon on ours just in case it was dropped to make it easier to ID as ours. I also opened it up and wrote our contact info in Sharpie marker.

I will tell you, though, that I think it's a good idea to get the newer one, not the older.
