While on my recent trip, I hit Property Control at the right time, I guess, because I am now the proud owner of one of the CM costume pieces that I have coveted for years. The ladies coat from Liberty Square! They were also selling 3x & 5x sizes in the men's Big Thunder coat, but those would have been way too big.

For $15 it will be perfect for keeping toasty while shoveling the Denver snow off the sidewalk. And while, it won't be "in theme" I will also be wearing my new Kermit ski hat that I got over at the Studios.

On one hand I'm very excited that I have the coat, and on the other, I am extremely upset that I have the ability to own the coat. Forget about seeing CM's at grocery stores, breaking the magic.

Anyway, I'm also surprised they're selling costumes at Prop Control.

I tried to find a picture of the coat online, but didn't find one. I can't take a picture of mine, because it is in a moving truck. 4 years ago, I bought the set of Wilderness Lodge furniture from MouseSurplus, and we are finally moving it from my parents house to ours. There are a few other Property Control finds on the truck too. A brown table and 4 chairs from Animal Kingdom, ottoman from the Yacht Club, large planters that we most recently noticed being used at Epcot for the F&W garden vegetable displays. And a couple more utilitarian items like filing cabinets. It's my favorite place to shop at WDW. :)

Property Control is where WDW sells stuff that was previously used on property. It can range from binders, office chairs, desks, to stuff used in the restaurants (dishware, glassware, flatware, frying pans) to stuff used in the hotel rooms (microwaves, tvs, bedspreads, artwork). Large, single items are auctioned off (arcade games, sewing machines, professional grade kitchen equipment, vehicles) while smaller stuff is at the back of Cast Connection. I don't think DL has anything like this.

Then there is Scratch & Dent, which is where damaged park merchandise is sold for 75% off, but can be more. This is in a trailer next to Cast Connection. It used to be CM's could bring in a guest, but now it's off-limits except to CM's and their spouse. This used to be my favorite place, because sometimes you could find not broken stuff, cheap. If the package was opened, it ended up there, even if complete. My Mom just got an Olszewski piece, and the only thing we could find wrong with it was bad batteries.

Oh, that reminds me! Is Sid's at the Studios on the chopping block? My parents have been picking up a bunch of stuff being sold at Scratch & Dent for a penny an item. Movie posters, lobby cards, press kit photos. Stuff that still has the Sid's price tags. Stuff that Disney tried to sell for $10-$40, and they are selling them for a penny!

Agreed but sometimes ya just get lucky...

I saw a bunch of jackets and the weird thing was some of those were active in use jackets. Heck if they were the ones I used I'd just buy the thing and wouldnt worry about returning it on time or what not

they do that and I will never set foot in that pathetic park again ... seriously. That is one of the best shops on WDW property.

I actually almost splurged on a Tony Curtis autographed movie poster for $300 last week because I knew he had just died and they hadn't had a chance to triple the price (what they always do when someone 'moves on').

But it sure looked like the DD Art of Disney store is on its way out ... the place barely has any art of any kind in it ... cheap sketches made there, big figs, lousy posters and VINYL, VINYL, VINYL is all that's left.

As to Prop Control, this is the first time in years that I didn't buy anything (although a certain 'sucky CM' has been asked to pick up a treasure for me to pass on to another LPer ... and don't ask what it is because we don't want to ruin the surprise!) ... didn't see much that interested me ... some WoD NYC CM shirts that were kinda OK ... a set of four Aristocats pins for like $4.99 (to trade in HKDL) ... some WDCC pieces that only cast can buy (of course, there isn't a thing stopping a cast member from buying a piece and you giving them cash when out of the place). ... but generally, there just wasn't much ... saw lost of sports tees and caps and team apparel from WWoS too.
