A man's home caught on fire and firefighters arrived to...watch the home burn. Turns out the man either forgot or couldn't afford to pay the $75 fee for firefighter services. So his home burned. Along with his pets.

It's probably for the best; firefighters are government employees and certainly would've screwed it up somehow....

Really the only inept government employees are the one's we vote in.

    The one's who tell us:
    who we can marry
    who we can screw
    how we can screw
    what we can eat
    what we can drink
    where we can smoke
    what car can we drive
    how to raise our kids

You show up to a fire, the guy who forgot to pay his $75 annual fee is watching his house burn to the ground with four beloved dogs trapped inside, pleading with your boss (fire marshall?) to save the house and pets, offering to pay whatever it takes. Your boss tells him no, then stands on the sidelines and watches the house burn down with everyone else, including you.

How would you feel at that moment, Donny?

Would you still feel good about being a firefighter?

Would you feel OK to hear the dogs crying from inside the house, succumbing to smoke inhalation before burning to death like Joan of Arc?

How would you be able to go home that night and sleep soundly, after witnessing something like that?

I don't know about you, but something like that would haunt me forever, probably requiring therapy. I wouldn't be able to stand by helpless like that at another fire, ever again.
