It seems the Disney hotels don't need a licence from TWDC to be a Disney hotel. Now I'm wondering why ED SCA is putting Disney characters all over them. That means they have to pay now.

With the exception of The Disneyland Hotel are the other properties marketed as "Disney New York" hotel or "Disney Santa Fe" hotel? If not, then they may not pay for licensing for anything other than the use of Disney characters. OAN, I'm wondering about some of the information in this article, which I'm too lazy to research. This struck me as particularly odd: "It reveals that Disneyland Paris, which was once seen as a poor relation to its bigger brothers in the United States, is now one of the top performers. In fact, it has generated more than $700 million in profits since opening in 1992 and made $85.7 million last year alone." How is that possible? Hasn't DLP been bleeding money on and off since it opened? Are they talking about profits to The WDCo from royalties paid by Euro Disney, or has Euro Disney really been that profitable? Someone help me understand.

The interest rate was almost killing the resort, that's why they had to do so many financial restructurings. Besides that they built too many hotelrooms. If they would have only built two or three, there wouldn't have been so many problems. They even had to close some hotels during the first winter seasons. Additionally construction costs would have been lower as well. The opening of SM saved the resort and ED SCA started to earn money, but then they had the stupid idea to build a second park and added another 600 mio Euros to the debt. I know they had to build the park, otherwise Disney would have lost the land rights. The interest rate went up again and after 9/11 the tourism broke down. TWDC could have earned even more with DLP, if they hadn't lowered the licence fees due to the high interest rates. But now TWDC bought the debts from the banks and ED SCA has to repay the debts to TWDC instead of the banks. ED SCA has more time to do that and that allowed DLP to add 500 mio Euros to the resorts. That's why they were building Ratatouille and started to refurb the hotels and the parks.

I mean there opened so many Disney Partner hotels around the resort. I guess money was the reason, like always when it comes to DLP. The partner hotels added the needed capacity, but ED SCA didn't have to invest any money. I'm also hoping for a Hollywood themed hotel. They should just copy the one from HKDL, because I really like its look. But I would put it between NPBC and Disney Village. That ugly white Disney Business Solutions tent should be removed.
