Look at the difference with Peter Pan, a ride that can only hold 2 people at a time, vs. Pinnochio and Snow White with vehicles that hold 4 people each. And I'll give Rocket Rods this much ... The ride was NEW, and "newness" of rides always have longer lines in it's first year .. and begin to taper off (Monsters Inc. for instance). Rocket Rods never experienced a fall off .. because the ride didn't last long enough to know. Though the ride opened May 1998 with an "official" closure of Sept 2000. Which was 2 years and 3 months ... the ride broke down so many times. Sometimes as much as a month or more ... It's actual tenure is something more like a year and a half at best.

A high-speed ride on the PeopleMover track just doesn't work. You can't see anything, you can't really go fast enough to feel like it's fast, and it was annoyingly noisy. Didn't work for me.

Like most such attempts to fit a square peg into a round hole, it didn't work. They'd have been much better off tearing down the PM track and creating a new track for the rods that worked WITH them specifically. Then they could have banked the turns, and created a true high-speed ride, even creating things like major changes in elevation in the autopia area. A true high-speed rods ride zipping around TL would have been fun to ride, and fun to watch from the ground. Instead, they took this square peg they had, and tried to...

The ride itself was kinda neat on a first (and only - as it was down for the rest of the time we were there) run, but overall we were left with the feeling of, "Is that it?" And ditto, Jim... The high-pitched, whirring noise was extremely annoying - on or off the ride.
