One big thing that has made me happy being home the last couple of days is the warmth of Austin in late April today it'll get up to about 87ยบ here, which is MUCH better in my estimation than the 40s I experienced in CO last week! brrr!

That's right! It snows here year round, like on Southpark. So don't move here, OK?

Kidding aside, as a California transplant, its not that bad. We get a lot of sunshine in the winter and highs in the 50s, while not daily, are not unusual either. A lot of people move here from the great lakes region because in their own words "the winters are mild".

Now to a denizen of SoCal these words might sound strange, but it really isn't that bad.

All of my family is from Denver. When my father entered Divinity School in California it was to be temporary. They had every intention of going back after he graduated.
Until the first California winter and Dad did not have to shovel snow. They said, "We're staying." And they did.

I do love visiting there. I have many relatives who are still there and would never leave.
Happy your trip was so positive Labuda.

Yep, I think that Denver is definitely in my regular vacation rotation now. What a wonderful town, despite the cold. And, btw, record high in the summer in Denver is 105, apparently. Here in Austin, that's nothing. ;) heh

Typical summer highs are in the high 80s to low 90s. And its pretty dry, at least compared to San Antonio.

One thing some people do struggle with when they move here is adapting to the altitude.

When I went to Denver in 1990 for my grandma's 100th birthday, my cousin was in her late 50's my aunt in her 70's and I was still in my 30's. (I was living on the beach in Hawaii, so in other words, at sea level.) I was in really good shape working out and climbing Diamond Head once a week.
We went out walking and I was following them huffing and puffing like a freight train. They asked me if I wanted them to slow down. I was like, "NO WAY!!" I got used to it pretty quickly though.
