A Star Wars movie without his score wouldn't be the same

It will be weird .. because I'm so use to the 20th Century Fox intro ... this will be the first time a Star Wars film won't have that.

I'm glad that Williams is returning, but they should bring another composer who works with him. I mean Williams is old and hopefully he will have the time to do all new three movies.

Lincoln, War Horse, Tintin etc. I guess it makes sense - personally I'd have loved Michael Giacchino to have had a stab at it - to make it distinct and unique as a new trilogy. I'm guessing Disney will look to trade off the nostalgia for the first set of three movies.

Giacchino would be a perfect choice for SW after Williams. He did already the ST:II soundtrack. Bythe way, do you know anything what WDI is going to show at D23 about the SW attractions mentioned in the Disney Insider Blog.

Kevin Feige has some independence at MARVEL but he still needs approval and assistance from the Studios. It will be the same for Kathleen Kennedy at Lucasfilm.

It is mainly just to highlight the work that goes in to blue sky conceptualisation.

After seeing it in all 6 films .. with repeat viewings .. they just seem to go hand in hand with each other. The 20th Century Fox intro score is so "commanding" it sets up John Williams score just perfectly. There is no other studio, throughout history .. who has such a powerful and melodic intro. MGM ... was a lion's roar. Warner Bros, Columbia, Disney, Paramount were often silent ... or whatever the film's music was .. started with the logo piece. 20th Century F's .... really stands out.

Originally Posted By dagobert >>>20th Century F's .... really stands out.<<< That's true. Fox has definitely the best intro, followed by Disney's. However I don't care that we will not see or hear Fox's intro at the beginning of Episode VII, although I'm also used to it.

Fox shortened it again, like before. But in the '77 release of Star Wars .. the musical extension returned ... replacing "In CinemaScope" for "Lucas Film Limited" And if anyone noticed ... in that Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor film - Down with Love ..it was a nice little touch the beginning had the 50s "20th Century Fox/CinemaScope" intro.

Since I'm the resident pedant about such things, I'll go ahead and say that I wish the guy who made it knew what he was doing. Several aspect ratio problems there, and I think the fanfares in the higher key may be sped-up PAL transfers.

At least, as far as I can remember. I associated it so much with Star Wars that I thought it strange when it appeared with any other movie. A great look back at an iconic movie intro. On the next update it would be neat to have dates associated with each clip.
