FOr example, I got shot when I was 13 - yeah, getting shot stinks, but I also looked at it in a positive light in that I have a great story I can tell for the rest of my life, plus got to be interviewed by the local news & papers, AND it brought me & my mom closer than we had been before it happened. Oh, and I think the scars from it are kinda groovy, too! lol

I have slacked off on that over the years but I still do it sometimes and on days when I do I a defiantly more of an optimist. What I am NOT is a perpetual "sky is always sunny" kinda guy, I tried that for a while, but found it annoying sometimes with others when I tried pointing out "but it's freaking raining you idiot" and they still claimed "no you are just being negative" So I try to look at the good in all and look for the silver lining in clouds, but I am not wearing blinders either.

Probably because I have a pretty extensive family support system to bounce the negative off of, which helps you get past things. Hey Labuda - I'd say you can put a positive vibe on things!!! Stong woman!

You know what I really don't like? When something bad happens (you fall and hurt yourself, you lose something, your car blows up) and someone says to you, "Well, look at the bright side. It could have been worse." Well, yeah. Of course it could have been worse. But using the same logic, it could have NOT HAPPENED AT ALL! Okay, I'm definitely not one to play "The Glad Game."

When I first got sick I was told by several doctors that I should be glad I got the kind of leukemia I did, because the recovery rate was so high. They all said I got a "good" leukemia. Oh, lucky me. Thanks but I would have preferred to not get it at all. When I relapsed no one said anything was good about that, that's for sure.
