Perhaps you were thinking of Susan Clark? She was also in "Blackbeard's Ghost", "The Shaggy DA" and voiced Zira in "Lion King 2". Being a child of the 80s, I saw her first playing Leona Helmsley in the TV-movie about her life. My parents later had to explain to me the significance of the "Newhart" finale.
