I think the mostly beer idea is the way to go as well. Perhaps sample some sake in Japan. If your able afterwards, I highly reccomend a nightcap at Jellyrolls on the BW. After your "tour around the globe" you're more than likely to be in a singing mood anyway..lol. You might try it on another night if you find it a bit to much. Either way it's well worth it.

My friends and I do this every year AuroraRose. The rules are one food item and one beverage must be sampled from each country represented including, of course, the 11 "permanent" countries. We usually do this over the course of two days, so as not to over-tax ourselves. Samples are often sampled by several samplers. Wow...it was fun typing that sentence! We are usually rather merry by the end of our tour(s), and a better time is rarely found elsewhere by those who attend. This year there will be about 15 of us all together, and we begin our tour on the opening day of the 2005 International Food & Wine Festival, Friday 9/30. Fifteen days from today.....I'm ready to pack...really.....LOL!!!

I found that out the hard way on May 5th. We arrived at Orlando at 10:30 a.m., got picked up by Tiffany Towncar and dropped off at the Boardwalk. Left our luggage with the bellman and walked over to Epcot. Decided that because it was Cinco de Mayo and the first day of the Happiest Celebration on Earth we had to have a margarita first thing. Well . . . at this point it was 11:00 a.m. (it was surely 5:00 somewhere) and we hadn't had anything to eat but pretzles on the plane . . . it hit us like a ton of bricks.

The Food and Wine Festival offers a selection of wines in each country and as AuroraRose said, the cups are bathroom dixie cup size. It should be just a sip or two for taste. If I can make it around World Showcase doing that and I'm not a drinker, anyone can. If you find something you like, you can of course order a regular size glass or buy a bottle. Last year, there was a "market" set up I think in Innoventions where you can purchase wines and other things as well. Neat Food & Wine Festival collectible posters and other things.

It is a wonderful, fun thing to attend.
