My SIL and I are taking a short trip to LV. We take one trip a year together (to different places), usually with a kooky theme. Last time we were in LV our theme was "eating at the counter" and we ate every meal but one sitting at some kind of counter.

This time we decided to do "eating at buffets". The only buffet I've eaten at in LV has been at TI, which I thought was sort of mediocre. Not great, but just okay. Also, any suggestions for sushi?

So if you guys can help out I'd like some suggestions for lunch and dinner (Can't eat that much for breakfast) with some variety in price.

Also, if anyone is up for meeting us, let me know. DlandJB has met SIL and can vouch that she is not an axe murderer. I'll post over in Meets when I get a chance.

    And here's one with ratings:

We were there in Oct. and I had a site that listed all kinds of things by ratings. Darn it, I can't find the site again!

I know the Bellagio buffet is really good. So is the food at Quark's in the LV Hilton.

The Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood is good (although it's been a long time since I ate there; at the time it was the Aladdin Casino Hotel).

The Garden Court Buffet downtown at Main Street Station isn't quite as good as the other two, but it's very inexpensive comparatively.

The Carnival World Buffet at the Rio is way overrated, IMO. I'd avoid that one.

For a full-on sushi buffet, I like Makino, which is off-strip in small shopping center.

I agree. I thought the food was very average and the dining area reminded me of a High School cafeteria.

I enjoyed the Luxor Buffet... not one of the best on the strip, but very good at a mid-range price.

I avoid any of the MGM (new MGM like Excalibur, Circus, Luxor) but the original MGM use to be really good.

I haven't eaten at TI in a few years but it use to be really good too. Caesars is nice.

The next day we splurged and had lunch at the Bellagio and that we really liked and recommend.

A little trick I learned. When you go the the Carving Station, always give the Chief a clean plate. I seem to get a nicer cut of [Beef - Turkey - Ham] that way.
And I will be in Vegas for CES. Anybody else?

Thanks for the "clean plate" tip! Neat.

Gee, what would I do without lp? ;-)

NY NY has a really neat casino and restaurant area, but the rooms are kind of small.

Yeah but they have the nicest doorman in town :).

As far as buffet I would have to agree about Belagio and Paris, both are good. Belagio is expensive but you get a lot of non-buffet foods. The last time I was there they had quail and venison. The Rio is all right but they have a separate buffet in the masquerade village that is a seafood buffet. I would choose that one if you go to the Rio...again real pricey.

If your a nostalgia buff try the Sahara it's just like buffets were 25 years ago in Vegas. Nothing but meat and potatoes and real basic items. I believe you even have to get your own drinks there. But it is cheap, after a couple of $40 buffets it could look inviting.
