Only time DL had a prominent role in theatrical film.

Growing up .... KTLA5 often showed it in the 70s.

The VHS is out-of-print but you can find used copies around. Also it's black & white, wished it was color just for the Disneyland part!

No wonder I couldn't find it in the Netflix catalog.

There was a special years back about the Muppets going to WDW. I've never seen such license taken with a property before! You'd be in MGM one minute, turn around, and be in Epcot. It was really shameful!

The "goofs" in the film are probably deliberate to serve the cotinuity of the story. I remember when the original 1958 film The Blob was being filmed in my home town of Phoenixville, Pa. They combined three towns in the area to make it look like the one town in the film. Another film that has a shot of Disneyland in it is The Three Stooges In Orbit.Towards the end of the film some Martians are going to attack the Earth and as they say "Let's hurt the Earthlings where it really hurts," a shot is shown of the entrance to Disneyland.

I do not know if the writing, production or direction(John Carpenter) were trying to fool most of the movie goers into believing that was Disneyland or if they intended the "DL" scenes to be a straight up spoof.

It was a remake of "Sorrowful Jones" w/ Bob Hope, which was itself a remake of "Little Miss Marker" w/ Adolph Menjou. And then it was remade as "Little Miss Marker" again. This time with Walter Matthau, Julie Andrews, and Tony Curtis.

And while the theme park visited by the Griswolds in "National Lampoon's Vacation" was called Wally's World. It is believed that the screenwriters were actually refering to Disneyland.

I have a well worn home recorded VHS of just the Disneyland sequence. The other biggest continuity flub is when Tony Curtis runs into a tunnel near the Indian Village and emerges in the Painted Desert on the other side of Frontierland.

I have a one sheet poster for the film, and a complete press book. I have searched for years to find a set of the specially made full color lobby cards of just Disneyland.

Fun fact: Disneyland had to receive equal billing with Tony Curtis and Suzanne Pleshette in all advertising for this film! (It was a Universal release, btw.)
