I was wondering if anyone had any great party games to recommend so I can bring to the family Christmas gathering.

What are your favorite party games?

You vote using numbered cards. Majority gets to move a spot. We play it with ages 6-76.

So, for PARTY games we like Outburst, and don't forget those old fashioned classics, charades and Pictionary.

ixie!!! Stop stealing my ideas, I just said Charades. Yeah, you explained it better, but really, aren't you just showing off?

This game is so fast paced and funny!

    -Cranium
    -Cranium Hoopla
    -Cranium Conga
    -Cranium Zigity
    -Taboo
    -Settlers of Canaan/Cataan
    -Scrabble
    -Uno

I've even started bringing other Monopoly sequels like Advance to Boardwalk and Free Parking.

As much as I love the Cranium games, I'm bummed that just about all the newer games are aimed at kids and/or families. Well, mostly kids anyway. Hoopla was the only one for teens/adults.

I do believe I'll be getting my friend's Disney SceneIt? since it has not been played in a year, and I'm the only one who will put it to good use.

My friend who's into games that are long, involve thinking and have the 500-page manual bought Castle Risk from eBay. It plays like Risk, only it takes place in Europe.

You designate a room in the house as home base. To start the game everyone but one would go in to the room and close the door. That other person would then "hide the belt" somewhere in the house. You didn't want to make it impossible to find but good enough for it to take a while so that the tension and excitement boils over. Once the belt is hidden, you let everyone out of the room. It's now their job to find the belt. When someone is lucky enough to find it they get free reign to whack anybody and everybody else until they happen to make it back to home base.

There's probably some reading this completely horrified but it's all in good fun and it's not meant to see who can hit who the hardest. There are two popular techniques to use when you've finally found the belt. The first is the Kamikaze which is basically to just start whacking anybody you can till everyone gets to home base. Total chaos with this approach.

The second technique is the Silent approach. Instead of making it known that you have the belt, as with the Kamikaze, here you want to find the belt and quietly take it without anybody noticing and make your way to home base. For those that haven't found the belt this approach is sheer terror. Usually what will happen is the group will chose some unwilling person, in our case Mom, to sacrifice, so the rest of us can make it to safety.

If you don't mind a little roughhouse, and maybe a couple of bruises, it's a lot of fun.
