I'm looking for an opinion of which is better - umbrella or rain poncho? Any other rain tips?

I definitely recommend ponchos, since it frees up your hands and makes it easier to transition from indoors to out (plus you'll probably encounter wet seats on rides). As a taller person whose eyes are level with the pokey ends of umbrellas, I find them particularly troublesome

I hate the look and feel of wearing a poncho but these posts are correct: it's a much better Disneyland option. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the parks are inundated with rain to keep crowds down :) When I was there two weeks ago...yikes on the crowds.

My favorite option at WDW is just a baseball cap on my head to keep the rain out of my face and just get wet. It is usually so hot at WDW during the summer being wet feels good.

My advice would be to bring waterproof footwear and raincoats/ponchos.

    Good luck.

The only real problem is if your feet get wet. Then you can get cold and miserable. As an adult you can avoid this but if you travel with little ones they love the puddles. They actually are made to have to step in them. They can't avoid it according to my Grandson. Don't do an umbrella they are a real pain. Putting them up and down and carrying them when the rain stops is just not fun. Who wants to carry anything extra in the Parks. Go, have fun and enjoy the rain. We Oregonians live with it all the time.
