My name is chickendumpling. I've been here for a couple of years now and I can't seem to leave no matter how hard I try.

I love, love, love Disneyland and have written a trip report about it here and there. Been to EPCOT once, wrote a trip report about that too. Trip reports are fun to read so if you go, I hope you write one.

I love the Disney of my childhood so I'll be the voice in the wilderness touting my love for Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Robin Hood, Fourth Avenue Irregulars, Aristocats, all the old Herbie movies and the like.

Though I read pretty much everything when I have time, you'll usually find me in Community and PlayPen where I am talking too much and being overly friendly and overly familiar with people like a big slobbery dog who just wants you to throw the ball so we can play and have fun. Life is too serious to not have fun in a place called Laughing Place!

I love this site because everyone here was so warm and friendly and accepting and kind and supportive when I came. I have made some good friends here and had a lot of fun.

Enough about me, who are you? How did you find LP? How did you come up with your screenname? What are some of your favorite things about Disney? What's your favorite park? Do tell! We can't wait to meet you!

I came to LP shortly after I came back from the grand opening of Tokyo DisneySea. Before that, I used to hang out on the USENET group rec.arts.disney.parks, but now I just read and post here.

My Disney life seems to have started before I was born; my mom took me to Disneyland while I was still in the oven. This was way back in 1961. We lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, and summer vacations were spent at DL (and Knott's Berry Farm.) When my parents moved us all to the east coast in the early 70's, it was a dream of mine to go to the new Walt Disney World, but I didn't manage to visit until the late 80's, which is around the time where I became a hardcore Disney fan. From that point, I attended most of the official Disneyana conventions, and the grand openings of both DLP and TDS.

Nowadays, my fandom has slacked off a bit. I thought about going to HKDL for its opening, but I didn't. I still go to DL once or twice a year when I visit my mom in southern California. I did manage to be there for the parks 50th... no way would I miss that! Even though WDW isn't too far from here in the D.C area, I have only managed to squeeze in two days in the last eight years; I don't feel like I am missing much.

As much time as I have spent here on the boards, I have met only one person here. Who knows if that will ever change...

I was already semi-obsessed with Disney thanks to the Disneystore but visiting the park just made me worse so now my home is a shrine to all things Disney :)
I haven't posted very much between my last trip and now, due to a bad case of home sickness for your wonderful country, but now I am a happy camper because I'm coming back (81 days until my next visit) I thought I'd re-introduce myself.
I met up with another LP member last trip but sadly she doesn't seem to be here anymore, however I feel like I know a lot of you by reading your posts for the last 2 years :)

My family was from Anaheim, but moved a few years before I was born to the desert. It was always a cheap vacation when my sister and I were growing up to drive from Tucson to Anaheim where my sister and I would be locked up in the back of the truck with the topper with no air-conditioning, usually in July for ten hours. I believe that now qualifies as child abuse but back then it was family vacation!!! We would stay with my Grandma and we were always allowed one day at Disneyland and one day at Knott's Berry Farm. So Disneyland represents so many fun childhood memories. I now go back every May with my son (9) to stay with Great Grandma now, though we seem to spend more then one day (usually five) and we travel from Denver in a nice air-conditioned jet. =)

It wasn't until I was in college that I made my first trip to WDW. I met a friend of mine from high school and we drove from Hilton Head to Orlando and stayed in the CBR which was their brand new budget hotel. The MGM Studios had just opened and the one thing I remember about that trip was before the fireworks they had a guy with a jet pack dressed up as the rocketeer who would hover a little (maybe about 10 feet off the ground) in front of the Great Movie Ride. I've since been back many many times. My self professed, non-Disney obsessed husband will whine very loudly if we don't make our annual trip in October. ;)

Outside of all things Disney, I love to travel and spend a lot of time in the outdoors; rafting, back-packing, climbing, caving, canyoneering and just about anything else that catches our fancy.

I spend WAY too much time on LP and can be found just about anywhere that catches my interest at the time. I'm a view every catagory kind of gal.

I am currently being found on Main Street USA at the Emporium, 5 days a week. I just started there this week and still miss my old home of the Wilderness Region Merchandise...

I still adore pins and pin trading and hit the 1,000th pin last month. I also love scrapbooking and disney history :)

The two foods that describe me are Jack in the Box (Gawd they need them in Orlando) and Mountain Dew...

I miss going to the LP meets in July and hope that I'll be able to go next year (assuming the job situation finalizes...)

I've been 6 times now and find myself suffering from the affliction in between trips, for sure!! LP helps to fill the void I think ....

My dear hubby does not share my love of Disney, but he tolerates it well. I grew up in South Carolina. We traveled to Walt Disney World every couple of years as I was growing up. I have never been to DisneyLand, though I really hope to someday. My favorite rides are The Haunted Mansion, The Pirates of the Caribbean, and Expedition Everest. The only ride I will not ride at WDW is Mission Space, and that is due to health restrictions. All the rest I love. I finally got up the courage to join Laughing Place a few months ago after "lurking" for a long time. As you can guess from my name, I love Goofy. He is just so clumsy and anything that can go wrong for him usually does. I cannot help but love him.

My username came from a character in a book I was reading once when I needed a screenname (not for LP) and it kind of stuck....

I'm in the UK, and have met with most of the UK Lpers who are a great bunch, and try to hook up with them as often as possible (which is quite regularly I'm pleased to report)..

DH shares my love of Disney (phew) and when we go this November we're also taking my parents, sister and bil, niece and a couple of friends (a couple who I've known for a very long time) so it's looking to be a fun trip :)

When I'm not Disneying I'm into Harry Potter too, and am currently trying to get back onto the exercise wagon...

    Hmmm huge post sorry lol!

All that existed back then was DL and my family couldn't afford the cross country trip to go there so it was never in the cards.

When I was 35 I brought my wife, and two daughters (6 & 8) to WDW. That was the year EPCOT Center opened. I cannot describe the feeling I had when I entered the property. I was hooked. My wife (now my X) never really shared my enjoyment of it. Anyway, I have been to WDW 18 times, not a lot by some of the standards here but I do have to travel from Vermont. I have made return trips with my family, escorted handicapped people here as their caretaker/tour guide, and since my divorce, have been 5 times solo. I never get tired of it over the long haul but I have to confess that I can get Mickey overload from time to time.

I managed to get to DL for the first time during the 50th and enjoyed it a lot. I remember seeing the park from the televised Grand Opening way back in '55.

My screen name, Goofyernmost, is because I am. Even though I have been known to ruffle a few feathers from time to time on the boards I will maintain my screen name because Abrasivermorenmost just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I am mid plan on a big family trip to WDW next February. I am treating my Daughters, their husbands and my grandkids to a week in the World. I think it will be the experience of a lifetime.

I've been hanging around here since 2001, right after my first trip in twenty years and my kids first trip ever. I'm a divorced dad with two kids, 17&16.We love to go to DL and usually make it once or sometimes twice a year.
I used to post more a couple years ago but changed careers, so I'm just now getting back into a routine. We have a trip planned for early July so I've been on the boards a little more here lately.

I have been on Laughing Place for several years now. What brought me here is that really enjoy listening to the older Disney music. So LP radio is one of my favorite stations on the web. So far I have only been to WDW. My first trip to WDW was with my family back in the mid 70s, the right after Star Wars was released. I did not return to WDW will 1987 when I went on a Disney Land and Seas adventure back when Disney Cruises had "The Big Red Boat". I was in my room at the Carribean Resort when the news came over the TV that we were in the ( first ) Gulf War. My sister and I managed to have a fun trip despite the fact that two of my brothers were deployed to Kuwait and the Disney Cruise ship notified everyone on board that there was an Iraq terrorist ship sailing around the Gulf ( we later found out that Mexico had stopped the Iraq ship ). Oh and it was also the same weekend that Eastern Airlines folded. Visiting WDW during that trip was expecially exciting because I can say I got to "see" EPCOT Center and the original MGM Studios. In my opinion both parks are no where what they were like then they first opened. I actually got to ride a double decker bus around the World Showcase. Yes, pinch yourselves the World Showcase actually had transportation around the World showcase back then. I did not return to WDW till probably 6 years ago when I returned for a trip with friends over Mardi Gras and my birthday. Since that time I visit WDW at least once a year, sometimes several times a year. This year I bought an Annual Pass and plan on putting it to good use. This July I will be attending the "Big Meet" at DLR... I can't wait.. I have always wanted to visit DLR. I also plan on spending a week at WDW again in October... and as always in January (08).

I am also one class away from graduating from university (Yeah !) in the Child and Youth Care program. I just got back from doing my final practicum in Africa where I was helping create a program to integrate kids with disabilities into schools.

We have been trying to go to WDW for several years now, but something always comes up to prevent our trip. Hopefully someday we will get there, but in the meantime, I can enjoy DL!
