And as I recall, the cashier had to call a manager over to the register to do something to validate them. But yes, it was a great value, and I'd like to do the same thing next month when I'm in socal.

Originally Posted By Hans Reinhardt I respectfully disagree with those complaining about the price increases. Here are my reasons. *Disneyland and DCA are by far, two of the best theme park experiences in the country. Disney can charge a premium because the overall experience is incomparable. The parades and shows alone are more entertaining that what many competing parks have to offer. Disney can only charge what the market can bear. *The parks are obviously very expensive to operate, and like everything else, those expenses are no doubt rising accordingly. I noticed that most of the major attractions seem to require that at least five to six cast members to operate them. Even a modest ride like Mulholland Madness had four employees working when I rode the attraction. *While DL is overdue for an E ticket, a huge reinvestment in infrastructure has taken place over past few years. The place is spiffy. I cannot remember the last time I saw DL look so good, and it appears that the cost cutting on upkeep has been dumped in favor of making the place shine again. Now, none of this is to suggest that the place is not without problems; however, I think consumers are willing to shell out the money for DLR if the experience is well above par. And it is.

Then again if Disneyland wants them to go to Disneyland (The casual tourist who lives closer or about the same distance to Disneyworld) they need to offer more incentives to go to Disneyland. Many tourists don't quite place the same premium on DL starting it all, they just care about bang for the buck and the appeal of "more" (over the whole resort not MK). Most casual tourists don't really place priority in a unabridged POTC. Most tourists I know of here don't really care about revolutions like Fast Pass, or crazes such as pin collecting or Princesses. Even though it is a premium product, Walt wanted DL to appeal to the "everyman" family. The average family cannot justify $300.00+ for a day of fun.

Do you know that the current single day admission to both Sea World, Magic Mountain and USH are $59, only a four bucks less than DLR's new single day ticket?

The fact is that it's been a long, long time since Disneyland was priced for "everyone". I think that Walt had it right, however we are living in the reality of a 21st Century economy where a two bedroom house sells for almost a million dollars in some places.
