Will it be a Star Wars announcement, or something else?

Here's a *rumor* I've heard regarding what might be announced, starting with descriptions of posters that were supposedly considered at one point.

You are cordially invited to our biggest Anniversary Celebration ever.

    1. Festivities kick-off with a special in-park screening of Cinderella on March 13th, 2015.

    2. Announcement of dates for Cinderella’s Midnight Pumpkin Bashes (new 24 hour events). Special nighttime food offerings might include bags of specially flavored pumpkin seeds, Fairy Godmother’s Pumpkin Brew, in addition to slices of a special mint almond 60th Anniversary cake with a glass slipper confection on top.

    3. Special 60th Anniversary Jac and Gus hats with mouse ears might be offered as merchandise.

    4. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boom! fireworks show details.

    5. Transformation of the Fantasyland Theater into Cinderella’s royal grand ballroom where guests of a variety of ages can celebrate the anniversary with Cinderella and other Disney characters. They were looking at how to hang chandeliers at one point, not sure how far along this is.

    6. Lots and lots of glass slippers all over the park, some might be hidden.

    7. Enchanted Evenings Parade. Cinderella, Tiana, more Frozen, and other Disney characters.

    8. Pumpkin carriage and and pre-midnight carriage available for photo opportunities near the castle with Cinderella. Don’t know if it is the classical pumpkin carriage from the films, or the more alive one from the upcoming live action film, probably the classic one. Not sure if horse-drawn one got the OK from legal and logistics wise, or what happened with that.

    9. Announcement regarding new Fantasyland attraction in Disneyland.

Oh brother. Not again. They say this exact same thing every time they have an anniversary celebration, which is why I skipped the 50th. *yawn*

That's an awful lot of Cinderella-specific stuff, and they might cancel one or two things at the last minute, but not all of it if it was indeed such a big part of their 60th planning.

If there's little or no Cinderella stuff in the 60th announcements, we'll know that PP either has the worst source ever, or he's just making it all up for whatever weird reason.

Now this would be awesome if it were true. However, I doubt it is. Is there even room for a new attraction in Fantasyland?

And don't you dare say that there would be if they remove Casey Jr and Storybook Boats, HANS!

I can believe that Cinderella will be the main focus of the advertising since they are releasing the Cinderella movie next year, and the 60th is the diamond anniversary, isn't it? So they could tie that in to the glass slippers, I suppose. I don't know though, I highly doubt they would do some of the stuff on that list. Like turn Fantasyland theater into a ballroom? Yeah, right. They just turned that into the Mickey and the Magical Map show a year ago.

Depends on what you’d want to build. There are several options:

    1. Motor boat dock and surroundings, could fit a dark ride such as Peter Pan. But you’ve obviously got theming issues, and the monorail track to contend with.

    2. Circle D could be moved north, though they’d have to move some backstage stuff, depends on whether it is cost effective based on attendance projections I guess. They could connect a Circle D Fantasyland expansion to Toontown and to Big Thunder Ranch south by going under the train tracks. The castle and Fantasyland courtyard rides could all fit in Circle D, btw.

    3. Removal of Fantasyland theater, old skyway station. At one point they were thinking of a Belle dark ride with tea cups ride vehicles, though maybe Frozen is more popular, certainly room for more than one dark ride here.

    4. Remove Fantasyland theater, expand/alter Casey Jr. with a earthen mound hill/hills which hides a showbuilding.

    5. Totally reconfigure Pinocchio/Village Haus by adding a second floor for another dark ride, such as how Alice is above Mr. Toad. They could move the bathrooms over the SkyWay, or perhaps have an elevated queue and load/unload at the Skyway Station level that traverses *over* crowds and into the show building.

This scenario might work with Frozen, they could build a snow capped mountain facade above Pinocchio/Village Haus, and have Frozen ride vehicles (I’m thinking sleighs), go over a medievalist bridge and into the show building which could be quite big it if is over both Pinocchio and Village Haus. If guests climb up the stairs at the SkyWay to get into the ride vehicles, then the track could even be flat, all at the second story.

They’d have to close down Pinnochio/Village Haus, add a steel support for a second floor, and then do some rock work, wouldn’t necessarily have to gut everything.

    >>>Like turn Fantasyland theater into a ballroom? Yeah, right.<<<

Beats me, they could add some large curtains over the stage at night, and add chandeliers and to be turned on at night.

First, gross. Second, how could this possibly be part of a media event this summer? Come to Disneyland! Only $100 to $150 per day! In a year, we'll have a certain kind of [disgusting sounding] cake!!!!!!!!!

And . . . they're going to revert Fantasyland theatre into a meet and greet, but can't seem to figure out how to hang lighting there. Ummm--from the existing rigging? From rigging they add? This is so implausible it made me laugh out loud.

And . . . don't forget they're also going to rip out the theater to put in a new dark ride--maybe one where you sit in teacups, because that experience is not currently available in Disneyland. Or am I confused on that point?

The best of all is the "dark ride going above the Village Haus" idea. It doesn't even deserve commentary.

    But thanks for the laughs.
