He was at a small theater in California to see the Fantasticks, and during intermission the entire theater burned down! That would have been worse!

We were all told that we could get a refund or a ticket for a future performance. I went to the TKTS booth and asked for my money back. The guy looked at me like I was nuts - he couldn't believe I didn't want to sit through the show again. I honestly thought that he was going to refuse to give me my money. Odd. I ended up sneaking in at intermission a week later. I didn't miss much. I know AIDA had the same troubles out of town, when it had the big pyramid thing. SUNSET BOULEVARD had some occasional troubles with the big staircase. It's not totally uncommon with a show that has that mechanically complicated of a set.

I think it is a shame that they make they hugely technical shows, but on the road you get a very scaled down version. the only expceptions to this rule where Les Mis, Phantom and the first tour of Miss Saigon.
