But it's all about... bacon. Specifically, it's about Bacon Love. I wanna see some of those bacon babies!

Perfect way to have fun, but also actually be wearable! >>...for a limited time for Mardi Gras. Last day is March 11...<< I know it's commonplace, but this sort of thing has always bugged me. The purpose of Mardi Gras (both the day and the season) is to indulge before the time of Lent, where you're supposed to go without a lot of extras. Given that today is Mardi Gras (happy Mardi Gras, by the way!), and tomorrow is Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of Lent, I feel like anything celebrating Mardi Gras should be wrapped up pretty soon. Even in New Orleans, the police clear the streets just after midnight, clearly marking the end of Mardi Gras. Elsewhere in the country, the vague end date is more common, but it still bothers me (much like taking down Christmas decorations before January 6...yah, I'm that guy). Rant over...

A few years ago, before bacon was cool, we asked my husband what kind of Birthday cake he wanted and he said 'A bacon cake'. Of course he was joking and didn't think such a thing was possible. A friend and I made a corn bread type cake (we thought it would go better with bacon than traditional birthday cake flavours), sculpted it to look like a giant lego block and but a layer of bacon in the middle. Then we iced the whole thing in a brilliant blue. Most people thought we had completely lost our mind and not a lot got eaten. On a yummier note, the other day I halved an avacado, put an egg in where the pit was and a strip of bacon on top and popped it in the oven until the egg and bacon were cooked. Delicious !
