We will be staying at the GCH, and got great rates on concierge rooms.

My only worry now is that since this will be during the week, we might miss out on some of the holiday stuff. We will be leaving on the 14th, so Friday night fireworks won't happen. I'm resigned to the no fireworks thing, but does anyone have a guess about the parade? I'm dying to see it snow in Disneyland.

I'm assuming that the Holiday decorations and trees will be up by then, does anyone know if there are any other Holiday events that only happen on weekends (usualy, I know the schedule isn't out yet) that we will be missing out on?

I'm sure it will be great no matter what, I've never seen IASW Holiday, or any of the decorations, so I'm excited in any case.

All decorations will be up, they are up by mid November. I am not sure about the parade and fireworks schedule, but there is usually lots of holiday stuff going on like Reindeer Roundup, and carolers strolling and fun stuff like that. It really puts you into the holiday spirit. All the characters are in their holiday outfits, and the decorations and trees are breathtaking. And IASW Holiday is stunning all lit up at night. A must see!
We go every year during the holidays, and wouldn't miss it!

    Have a wonderful trip!

Hopefully it will be the same for this year! Although the fireworks were cancelled a couple of times when we were there due to winds, so I recommend trying to see them on your first night in the park. That way if they are cancelled, you'll still have a couple of other chances. Christmas in the park is so wonderful....whenever my kids and I watch the Christmas fireworks on youtube (to hold us over until we can get back), hearing White Christmas at the end makes me want to cry! Have a wonderful trip...

Thanks you guys, I am so excited finally to see the park decked out for the holidays. Last year I spent Christmas (the whole month of December) in the hospital having a bone marrow transplant, and I was feeling a little less than cheery about the whole holiday season this year with those memories fresh in my mind.

I think that the Disney Christmas experience will wipe those yucky memories clean out of my brain, hee hee!

You all made my day, thanks so much for giving me such great images, I'm really excited. I really want to have the holiday spirit with me this year, so I can deck the new house and enjoy life with my wonderful husband and parents, to thank them for getting me through last year's ordeal. Sounds like the trip in early December should do it!

First off, I'm glad and excited for you to be able to look back and now celebrate your health this year! I too am going to Disneyland this December for the first time in over 40 years! I love Disneyland and just came back this summer from WDW for a quick trip. Disneyland here in California is my favorite and I'm really excited to finally get a week off in December to experience it. My husband and I never get December off and they made a mistake at work and left a couple of weeks open on the books that no one else took. Of course , when I saw it, I jump on it and now here I am planning again. We'll be staying at the Disneyland hotel also for the first time in about 25 years! We got DTD view and I hope it's not too loud at night for sleeping. I'm waiting for my 60 days to get my reservations for Bluebayou as well. Does anyone know if they have any special decorations there for the holidays?
Thanks and Congratulations on your trip!

jacobsmom: I have stayed many times at the DLH with DTD view, and I absolutely love it. I love drifting off to sleep to the sound of music from DTD. But with your windows closed the sounds are very faint and pleasant. I have heard that some people were bothered by the sound, but I think those might be really light sleepers that like things really quiet to sleep. Either way, the music usually stops by 11, so it is not like it is all night. But to me, I love all the sights and sounds of DTD and being right in the middle of it!

    Have a great trip!

MickeyMommy. We also enjoy the DTD view and the GCH for the same reasons. I love listening to all the activity going on below. But as you said you close the door and it is nice and faint.

I actually had booked that view with bunkbeds last summer with AP rates, but they gave me a free upgrade at check-in to a park view, so I took it. And the bunkbeds were a big hit with the kids. But next time I get a chance I am going to try to get the DTD view. I just hope the GCH keeps giving AP rates!

One quick question, what is the Reindeer Roundup that I have been hearing people refer to?

Last year we met Woody hanging out there, as well as Pluto with antlers on. Santa is also back there, so you can get a great Santa pic and give him your Christmas list ;-). You could decorate Christmas cookies (for an extra fee), and maybe do some other crafts or coloring. I remember the picnic tables all set up, but I don't remember what was going on other than the cookies. Its all very charming.
