I know I'm in the vast minority here, but I actually liked the second incarnation. While I will always have a soft spot for the original, the second one really wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. The addition of Figment to it really made it a lot worse (IMO) and machine that checks your imagination at the end of the ride is completely random. In the original (2nd) version, it was completely explained what you were doing at the first one where you realized that you really have no imagination (which really is true for most of the population out there, and a lot of folks at WDI), and then you traveled past a ton of really cool illusions. Then, at the end, you go to a second one, and make it explode from all you've learned. The effect at the end was a lot cooler, because you knew what it was ahead of time and what results to expect. Then, as it exploded, the room was black with little TV screens all over the place. When I went on the third version, I was completely shocked by the yellow room, as I had thought that space was literally 4-5 times as big when it was filled with the screens. The black also made it a lot easier for the explosion to happen without you seeing the ceiling go up and the monitors go down. That scene alone was better than anything that the current version has to offer. Now, you go on a tour, and Figment keeps interrupting what the host has to say, and generally just gets in the way. While I thought the original Figment was great, the new one is obnoxious (a lot worse than Jimmy in the Mission Tortilla preshow) and ruins what are otherwise really impressive effects. Then, at the end, we lose all pretense of plausability (even while using your imagination) and see him all over a timy room, in minature form. The story is lacking, the effects are marginalized, and Figment just plain gets under my skin.
