Hello, we are going to DL 3/31/2007-4/6/2007. We originally had reservations at the DLH @ $214/night w/ a senior discount. We have 10 people in our party: 2 seniors, 3 adults & 5 children ages 14, 11, 9, 6 , & almost 2, so we will have 2 rooms.

Upon finding out that the monorail will not be operating during our stay, we looked for lodging along Harbor Blvd close to the crosswalk. I had originally wanted Carousel Inn & Suites because I read that it was being/had been recently renovated & that they were adding a Quiznos inside the hotel. However, the other adults in my party insisted on having a full kitchen so they could cook their own meals.

So, I booked Tropicana Inn instead. We have the family suite which includes 2 double beds, 1 Queen pullout sofa, 1 bath, & a full kitchen including full size fridge w/ freezer, stove/oven, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, etc. This room sleeps 6 and cost $210/night. We also have a connecting room w/ 2 Queen beds & 1 bath for the other 4 in our party. This room cost $129/night w/ AAA discount. Altogether we will be paying $339/night for the 2 rooms. We are also on the 1st floor since we have some senior citizens w/ mobility problems going up & down stairs & walking too far.

According to the people at the reservation desk, the family suite is their biggest room & they only have 2 of these rooms available.

They also said that there is a balcony in the family suite. I'm hoping that we will be closer to Harbor Blvd rather than deep in the hotel. Why else would they have a balcony, unless it's to see DL from our room? This particular room is not even mentioned on their website so I have no idea what the configuration of the room is.

Most of the reviews I've read on Tripadvisor & Expedia have said that the carpets are dirty & the rooms are small. According to their website, the hotel was recently renovated. So I'm hoping this family suite was included in the renovation.

Okay, my question is has anybody stayed in these rooms or know anybody who has stayed in these particular rooms & what their opinions were?

Any help/response would be great appreciated. Thanks in advance!

PS Sorry for the long post!

We're actually staying there for a night in October. We stay in the "king rooms" - there are a few rooms with king size beds. They have a microwave, and the room is pretty large, and in our past 3 trips, everything's gone perfectly. The fact that it's so close to walk to just adds to it.

brea77, did you have a balcony & were you closer to Harbor blvd rather than in the back of the hotel, since you were able to see the Matterhorn from your window?

So anybody else stay in the family suites w/ full kitchen yet? Thanks in advance!!
