Fast food was never my idea of comfort food, as a child, and the fact that it is today for so many kids is not only a sad commentary on parenting today, and on the power of not-terribly-ethical marketing, but also a major contributing factor to the epidemic of childhood malnutrition and obesity. Of course, that's all moot, because (1) with my eating habits, there's not one variation on the DDP that doesn't work out to be a terrible deal for me, and (2) I'm, as I said, a single, childless, virgin.

I am really glad that when we go this summer he will be on the adult plan.

At counter service places I would often take the child meal and get an adult meal for my son as he didn't like most of the things on the kid menu. IIRC the counter service places offered the same dessert for both adults and children, usually cake or rice crispy treats and the like.
