Well, it's clear I rang your bell a little, BOT. Thanks for letting me know I drove some points home. I hope you didn't spend a lot of time thinking up those withering retorts.

Unlike some people on these boards, I haven't the slightest interest in responding line by line to all the baloney that's posted by others. The situation was very simple:

Spirit made a remark, which I believe was mostly in jest, and I told him it was over the top. Next enters third person who has nothing to do with the original conversation yet pulls out an axe the size of Montana to start grinding. And, despite all the attempts here to redefine the issue into an arena where you'd like to trap me, I'm not going to bite.

    >>>>Besides, anyone who enjoys the MK's Space Mountain in its current state of utter disrepair and feels its the best attraction at WDW ... well, I'd take what they wrote with bagloads of salt!<<<<

    That was a low blow.

Given Spirit's replies since then it's clear that he doesn't really think that way, despite his making a small effort to try to stand by those words that make him look very shallow and ridiculous.

That really only leaves us with BOT, the reason for whose sudden appearance here is still quite a mystery to me.

It took me the time it took to write my repost to your statements - a couple of minutes.

My original post had EVERYTHING to do with Maletic's article. Sorry you can't see that. Apparently your eagerly flapping feathers are too ruffled to see things like "context."

I think my words do a pretty good job of 'splaining exactly what I mean.

I've been called many, many, many, many things but shallow wouldn't be one.

But statements like your response to Blue Ohana, one of our more articulate and intelligent posters who does have a lot of knowledge as how Disney operates, make you look shallow:

<<Why don't you just give us all a break, do yourself a favor, and just shutup before you look even worse.>>

Anyway... I'd still be very interested in Greg's opinions of WDW in the 70s and 80s, when he visited regularly, and today.

I'll be sure to touch on that in the 2nd part of the article.

Spirit, just let it go. You were obliged to make a little stand in his defense, and well, there it is. Whoopee.

    >>>I think my words do a pretty good job of 'splaining exactly what I mean.<<<

Actually, they often don't. Oh sure, you have good insights and are great at discussing the finer points of Disney park operations, but then there's this other side where you pontificate about other people, their jobs, and their opinions as if your experience and understanding of Disney somehow justifies and defends those statements. You're right, shallow was not the right word here. Egotistical elitist is a better description. You present some well-informed opinions mixed with an elitist bias and pretend that there's no difference between the two. Then, when someone pins you down on your biased statements you refuse to address the bias and instead try to obfuscate the matter by returning to an irrelevant set of talking points about the general topic.

Do words and phrases like "risotto," "Walmart," and "chicken fingers crowd" help bring this into a greater focus for you? Those are just the mild cases. Most of the others are usually Admin'd.

I defended someone I felt deserved.

So, yeah, I made by 'little stand.'

    >>>I think my words do a pretty good job of 'splaining exactly what I mean.<<<

    <<Actually, they often don't.>>

Well, sometimes people are too ignorant to read what's written and choose to read things in because they live to be insulted. Just part of the Great American Victimization Complex!

<<Oh sure, you have good insights and are great at discussing the finer points of Disney park operations, but then there's this other side where you pontificate about other people, their jobs, and their opinions as if your experience and understanding of Disney somehow justifies and defends those statements.>>

Uhm ... at the risk of getting into another circular argument that's what people do. They post based on their knowledge and then sprinkle a touch of opinion on it.

And, yeah, sometimes my reasoned, thoughful posts full of inside knowledge does make others feel insignificant. Why? I have no clue. My guess is they're just insecure people who can't take disagreement.

<<You're right, shallow was not the right word here. Egotistical elitist is a better description.>>

You'd really have to know me first. But you know what? I'll cop to being an elitist. I think it's a very good trait, not a bad one. Wanting and expecting the best and not being satisfied when people pass off crap (at Disney parks) or crappy arguments (on Disney forums) is something I'm quite proud of.

I'd love to know when elitist became a dirty word ... likely about the same time liberal (or for that matter, conservative) did.

<<You present some well-informed opinions mixed with an elitist bias and pretend that there's no difference between the two.>>

I present facts. And add opinions where I choose. And I do realize there is a difference. But, again, I'd love to hear why having 'an elitist bias' is somehow a bad thing.

I guess you just enjoy shopping at WalMart, eating at Taco Bell and buying Amercan cars :)

<<Then, when someone pins you down on your biased statements you refuse to address the bias and instead try to obfuscate the matter by returning to an irrelevant set of talking points about the general topic.>>

I got an idea if you feel you know so much about me or what makes me tick ... if you disagree with something I write, why don't you respond and let the other kiddies on the playground judge for themselves.

You sound like one of my typical 'fans' here who gets intimidated by my blunt style and decides I should be the subject and not what I write.

I guess that happens when you write provocative things that make (some) people think.

<<Do words and phrases like "risotto," "Walmart," and "chicken fingers crowd" help bring this into a greater focus for you? >>

Hmm ... been out at WalMart today? Having chicken fingers for dinner?

<<Those are just the mild cases. Most of the others are usually Admin'd.>>

See, this is where you LIE. I can't recall the last time I had a post admin'd, so basically you're full of it.
One of mine disappeared recently when I responded to someone else and quoted their orginal post, which frankly wasn't objectionable to begin with unless the moderator just had a problem with what was being discussed.

But, hey, let's have another 'Spirit is a big, mean bully' thread, which rest assured won't be closed or admined ...

I may have a plain burger for dinner before I crawl into the trailer where I live in the Bible Belt where we think we have the greatest health care system in the world.

Did I leave out any of your current "pearls," Spirit?

Yeah, well I recall it. And you know what was being discussed and weren't objecting to it either.

Well take the WalMart out of there, and I fit that profile.

I remember that one very well, it was merely a very civil disagreement.

Look, I'm not telling anyone how they should post. Do we really want mindless robots here that agree with everything, and slap each other on the back. Why should anyone take offense because another persons has a different opinion.
If all the controversial people disappeared this would be a very dull forum. Once again all I'm asking is please try to be civil. Fot those that can't " Shove it". :)

Some folks think it's fine to label me a Mid-level Disney Exec Stalker.

Like I've said before ... we all have agendas. Some just are a whole lot more honest about things!

Hmmmm, "the truth!" A very telling choice of words there, Spirit. What a load you just dropped.

OK, I'm pretty much done. I think you can see just everything I said earlier playing out here.

To conclude, I certainly don't fault Spirit for expressing his opinions. He has every right to show everyone how he truly is.

Dare I say that on some things I highly agree with him. I'd like to see the other baggage that he totes around with those dead-on insights go away, though.

    God bless us everyone,

    and Mr. Spirit, too.

Yeah, I have a good idea how to reach you! ;-)

I'd like to do it, but it won't likely work this visit. I have meetings all day Monday and Wednesday and Tuesday is kind of spoken for unless things change.

But I'll be back in either January or, more likely, early February. So, maybe we could do something then?

We could meet and just bash magnet the whole time? Or I could teach you my stalking techniques for mid-level Disney managers? (there's a guy that works merchandise at DCA who's on my radar right now! I think I know how to stalk him through his brother!)

Oh, and Greg if you're still bothering with this thread I rode DL's Space Mountain a few hours ago and it really is MUCH better than the MK's ... no comparison. Now if you wanted to compare them in 1987, I'd be agreeing with you.

But I AM looking forward to your next column.
