I'm willing to bet that if the academy thought on it they would find even more actors who should be rewarded for their turns as a "toon".

Of course, Hunchback of Notre Dame was completely shut out of the Best Song category for no particular reason. I think it might be simply the fact the there was no standout song (they were all so good) that the votes split. I would have to think that or I would think the Academy has no taste whatsoever.

As for why it didn't win Best Score (it lost to Emma) that's anyone's guess!!!

It was originally written for Esmeralda to sing in place of God Help the Outcasts, but was swapped for something more intimate.

The best version of this song, imho, is in the German stage show where Esmeralda sings it with Phoebus and the people of the city just before Frollo toasts her (yes, she dies). When you listen to the words and place it in the context of a person who knows they are about to die, but still wishes for a better life "Someday" it means so much more than any cheesy Pop version could ever do justice!!!

That would have been wonderful. It did receive a nomination for Best Score, and IMO it should have won.

It would also have been great to see Fauna and Maleficent nominated for Best Supporting Actress. :)
