Originally Posted By ToonKirby That "limited issue" was in aspect ratio 2.35:1, while the new disc is in the original aspect ratio of 2.55:1, which gives you the complete Cinemascope picture. The film's visuals and sound have also been restored in the latest releases, and the earlier release had no bonus features compared to a whole 2nd disc worth on the new release. So if those things are important to you, then this would definately be worth a 2nd buy.

Why? I did check the packaging on my Sleeping Beauty 2 Disc DVD, and sure enough - it didn't have the Platinum Edition silver strip...
Originally Posted By ToonKirby The "Platinum Edition" titles were originally/basically the most popular films in the Disney library, and therefore were to be given all the bells & whistles and special handling of a super-deluxe DVD edition. Well, in the meantime, DVD exploded as a medium, so Disney ramped up all the production on their animated titles, resulting in several special editions (like "Sleeping Beauty") that were more or less "Platinum Editions" without actually being called that. And ever since the first ("Snow White"), even the official Platinum Editions are rarely called "Platinum Editions" in advertisements.

They also did a really good job of making the owners generic, as they never really showed the faces (Jim Dear's face is seen through the smoke when opening a window). I thought this did a really good job of keeping it generic enough to relate to.

Originally Posted By gurgitoy2 Man, I pulled out my old "Limited Issue" Lady and the Tramp DVD to compare alongside the platinum edition, and what a difference!! First, the picture is wider, since they were able to restore the part that was cut off to make way for the soundtrack. Second, the colors and clarity are brilliant, even compared to the first DVD. If you already own the "Limited Issue" DVD, please, upgrade to the new version, it's a dramatic improvement!
