We found a little patch of shade and just sat and people watched for awhile.
It was so hot, and it was very interesting to just see folks go by. The choices of clothes and footwear were all over the place..including high heels, long sleeves, sweaters and black tights with a party dress worn with 3 inch high strappy silver sandels!! Amazing.
DH and DGD actually got their ride in around the 45 minute mark and we then headed towards Fantasyland. DGH had declared earlier that she was NOT going to ride IASM because "that song just never gets out of my head!" However, when we walked by and the wait was almost non-existant, she changed her mind. DD and I headed over to the gift shop across from the back of the castle "Sir Mickey's" and did some more browsing in there. It started to rain lightly by this time, and we were able to sit outside the shop under cover on a stone bench.
We got a text that DGD and DH had decided to ride some more rides, so we just sat and enjoyed the brief cool from the rain. The rain soon stopped, DD went to get us some bottled water, and just as she was returning, the rain started again, this time in earnest. It was heavier and we thought it actually might continue for some time. FL started thinning out a little ( except for all the people who crunched their way into the area where we had been sitting), so this gave DGD and DH the chance to pretty much ride everything in the area except for Dumbo and the carousel.
Just about the time the rain finally stopped, they were done and found us. We continued onto Tomorrowland with the idea of riding Buzz. But, the wait was longer than they wanted to do now, so they rode the Teacups, and then we started making our way back towards the front of the park.
We really didn't have any kind of schedule to follow for this trip and it was nice to just be able to wander and take our time.
We went into the shops along Main Street and it was so crowded in there you could hardly move. I guess the rain had driven allot of folks into the shops.
I was looking forward to seeing what they had for scrapbooking, but they have all but eliminated it in most of the shops that we entered, it seems. I guess between digitial scrapbooking and all of the Disney stuff you can find at other scrapbooking stores and online, they don't move enough of it to dedicate space to it.
I have to say, I was somewhat disappointed to not find that one item this trip that I really wanted to buy. Maybe I've just shopped too much, but I left without buying anything.
We decided to go back to the hotel for dinner and then let DGD swim now that the rain had stopped. It appeared it was done.
We were calling it an early day in the park, but again, this trip was intended to be more relaxing than previous visits.
And, I was just about to the point of having to sit down frequently because I was now full-blown sick
Back to the busses, and luckily, a FQ bus was pulling up just as we got to our designated spot ( we usually just miss a bus, or the one that is there is full).
Back to the FQ in a few minutes, back to the room to drop off our park bag, and then to the food court for some dinner.
All, I wanted was some ice water, a shower and a rest.
We finished up pretty fast, DD had the Chicken dinner that she shared with DGD, DH had a quesidilla, and I had a kid's hot dog meal.
DD and DH took DGD to the pool for awhile, and I got my shower in and tried to get settled in for a restful night!!
No such luck. I spent most of the night in the bathroom coughing trying not to keep the rest of the family awake. At one point, I got dressed and went outside to sit in one of the seating areas away from the rooms so I could cough without disturbing the whole place. I was so miserable, and we were supposed to be getting up early the next morning to go to breakfast at Tuskar House in AK!
I hoped I could convince the rest of them to go without me. I didn't want them to miss out.

Sounds like a nice relaxed day in the park, and like DGD had fun with your DH, which I would assume was a goal.
