Is DLR immune from any attendance slide? (Also, I don't think Harry Potter at Universal will have any measurable effect on Disneyland attendance, even if Universal's attendance doubled. I laugh at every "Harry Potter Threat to Disneyland" article published. Even if Universal opened 10 new Attractions, they would remain no threat whatever to Disneyland attendance and profitability.)

There is always some point in the year with lots of refurbishments, remember last year before the big 60th festivities? Tons of refurbsishments, but it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. And most of the long refurbishments aren't "huge" people attractors anyway. Can you think of anyone that would not travel to DL because the River and train is down beside a Disneyaholic?
Originally Posted By monorailblue It is true, but people like me--who is a Disneyholic at heart, but not in practice (because I can't afford it)--will definitely not plan a trip in February or March this year because the refurb schedule is definitely heavy during those times. That paltry number of rides may work elsewhere, but it doesn't work for a countable number of Disneylanders.

A significant number of guests consist of "regulars" -- APers who live locally and hang out at the park at least once a week regardless what is going on with various attractions. And even if there is a drop off, mainly from out-of-towners postponing the expense of a Disneyland vacation until all the new stuff opens, it won't feel less crowded since the usable areas of the park will be a bit more compressed until all that construction is complete.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney reduced the number of guests they admit into the park at any given time, with so much of it closed. If they're close to reaching that number daily, then perhaps the annual attendance will have a noticeable dip, but I suspect that most days will just feel busier because the same number of bodies have less space >>Starcade – closed indefinitely<< Why don't they just officially remove it from the attraction roster? They're not fooling anybody, it isn't being refurbished or upgraded; it's a stockroom for the store, and can be clearly seen from the Space Mountain queue. Of all the things that DL diehards get upset about, I don't think closing the Starcade would be one of them, unless they drag it out in purgatory for endless years And there's going to be a really lonely week at Winnie the Pooh and the Critter Country shops while the river is drained and Splash Mountain is getting refurbished. Thank goodness HM is supposed to have reopened by that point, or it would be a total no-man's land!

Do you think ANYONE will make the long trek back there just for Pooh? I feel sad for the little guy. If my family was there, I know we would. My husband loves that ride, lol. I hope that Critter Country is opened up with the new Star Wars land and it's no longer a dead end back there.

I wish they would put a temporary walkway on to the railroad tracks so you could at least still walk to see the dinosaurs, Grand Canyon.

It was actually kinda creepy.

I thought you said he didn't like anything at Disneyland! I'm glad he's finally seeing the light
Originally Posted By FerretAfros >>Critter country isn't anywhere near Star Wars land.<< We don't really know the extents of the land, so it very well could be. There would be a long-ish walk between the two, but certainly no longer than the existing Big Thunder Trail. If they found a way to take the path through the woods (getting over/around the Pooh show building could be a real challenge), I think it could be a really nice relief valve for that side of the park The new Avatar land at DAK will have a second path along Discovery River that will link it up to the Africa section of the park. It will be a *much* longer walk without anything noteworthy along the way, but it will help to complete the outer ring surrounding the park
