The first day was kind of a bust for DH and myself. Opening was great, especially when DD2 started crying when her niece read “BAKERY.†She could not figure out why it made her cry but Maile has not been to DL since she learned to read.

We had been on Mr. Toad, Storybook Boats and Snow White. The morning opening was in front of the castle so we watched that and followed the band down Main St. Then DD2 went to get her son his B’day badge. We were on a bench in the hub deciding whether to do the Tiki Room or something else. The kids were running around and we heard a crack and a scream. It was my grandson's 3rd b'day and he had fallen and split open his chin. They took him to first aid. Meanwhile DD1 and family and we had gone back to do Pinnochio. Then DD2 called and said Garrett needed stitches. So we went to give them our car keys. When we came out of first aid DD1 and her family came over sporting "Million Dreams" lanyards with two exclusive pins each. Even the 4 month old. So we missed out on that.

After removing the bandage, we determined that stitches were not necessary. We did a few more things and then it was afternoon and DH and I decided to go to Walmart to get him a costume for DCA that night. Before we could get away we were hit with requests for Bandaides, Binkies and Pampers. By the time we finished that and stopped by Trader Joe’s it was time to rush to the hotel and dress for DCA.

That was a lot of fun with the grandkids. DD2 her son and daughter all dressed as Tigger. They got so many comments. I was Sally and hubby turned out to be a hitchhiking ghost. Not really planned but it turned out that way. The Halloween decorations and festivities were great.
So the day was not really a bust. It is just that Mr. RAM1984 and myself have gotten so used to doing Disneyland ourselves that it took a while to get used to the time it takes when kids are involved. Seeing the kids take it all in was truly magic.
    More later.
