THE BROWN DERBY Honestly, The Brown Derby is the ONLY place in all of WDW that I have ever had problems (that were not my or my kids fault) due to my kids. We were politly told that our children were "being too loud...we know the park is very exciting, but..." I really CAN step back and be objective about this. Yes they were talking, but not loudly, and were sitting civilly, casually eating their food. We eat dinner early with the kids (6 kids) becuase it is easier to gett them all situated and eating if there are not lots of other people to work around, offend, or entertain. This particular day we were the ONLY customers in the entire section of the dinning room, we were seated very early, just before 5:00 maybe. I wasn't offended, just surprised that I would be called out due to my kids chatting. I do try for "Stepford Children" but sometimes come up short. We haven't been back to the Brown Derby, not because of this, but because there are so many other choices where the restaurant is inherently LOUD anyway, the food is as good if not better, and the prices lower.

I was just thinking that both the Brown Derby and Alfredos had long histories that have nothing to do with Walt Disney World (I believe Alfredos dates back to 1914 or so). The WDW version probably isn't nearly as good as the other restaurants, but it's still got an interesting history.

The Mouse likely wanted too much. I do enjoy Patina cuisine in many places in LA (especially their concessions at the Hollywood Bowl), Ahaheim and Vegas. I have the feeling we won't know if this is a change for the better for a year ... until the REAL replacement debuts. <<And thanks! At least in Florida we barely have any history ... the local Italian joint proclaims 'serving the area since 1996' like that's something.

I'm curious now to what the temporary Menu is going to be at the Italian pavilion. It use to be one of our favorite dining spots in Epcot. However the quality of the food seems to have deminished the last few years. Here's hoping for better food, and maybe a little more leg room ( I know that's a foolish dream). Happy Birthday tomorrow Denise. It's a big day for me also. My favorite nephew arrives back here in the World from his tour in Iraq.

Congratulations on your nephew coming back, hopefully this is his last tour of duty (or only, if it's his first). Thank you for the birthday wishes! And Alfredos wasn't as good as it once was, but it was pretty good for lunch. Just so pricey! Denise
