Where else can you sit down (and rest your oh-so-weary legs) and be entertained for so long, without a real wait? It's a classic! >>Now, because it is my favorite attraction, I am the first to admit…the thing is dated. Super dated. Cell phone with an antenna dated<< You're lucky that there are even cell phones in the film at all! Considering that it opened in 1996, they were still pretty rare amongst 'normal' folks, and didn't really become household items until a couple years later. To further prove how dated it is, it opened when Ellen (and her sitcom character) was still "straight"; so much water has passed under the bridge since then!

The theater and dinosaur areas are still great - especially that opening reveal when the theater first rotates and the wall opens to reveal the primeval world is still amazing to this day. But the movie and ending need updating - badly! Of course, I'd personally LOVE to see them bring back the old Universe of Energy song - but I'm sure that's never gonna happen.

It's been missing since the early 00's and was one of the biggest red flags that dated the attraction to me

Yeah. Except.....the heart of the ride, the dinosaurs, is all about fossil fuels. I guess you could write a script to reflect that fossil fuels should be on there way out, but it would be kind of kludgy. The whole dinosaur part of the ride is really kind of dated given the trend towards clean energy. A good update would probably mean gutting it.
