They were light and it was GREAT to not have to carry around a ton of stuff in the heat. I stopped doing leis because they would shed all over the place and they were unbearable in the heat. magic0214: if you have your heart set on handing out favors (and again, YOU DON'T have to!!!!) you can do something like little paper hand-made white flowers with spotchy red paint on them! Cheap, light and easy to hand out! You can use little inexpensive tiny safety-pins, too.
