The photo shows that this was a large branch and if someone had been right below it or in the wrong place they could've been seriously hurt or even killed. Granted, that still may not qualify as "news" since no one was hurt, but the branch is at least 25 or 30 feet long with several other branches attached to it. If anything people standing under it would had been scratch badly but i am guessing the sound of the branch breaking would had made people react to at least move out of the way. If it had caused some problem i would think it would be newsworthy but sinc eit did not cause any problems it really was not. The media just happened to be there due to the picketing from one of the unions
