After successfully rebooting several retro game shows, ABC is bringing back another classic shiny-floor competition series. The network has given a 10-episode order to The Gong Show, a new version of the irreverent talent show competition, which is being executive produced by Will Arnett. Every episode will feature non-traditionally talented performers plucked from the internet and put in front of a revolving panel of Hollywood judges. Sony Pictures TV, which owns the rights to the original series, is the studio. ABC Orders ‘The Gong Show’ Revival Produced By Will Arnett
I used to watch the first run of 'The Gong Show' - Chuck Barris as host and judges Jaime Farr, Jaye P. Morgan, Rip Taylor, Arte Johnson, Rex Reed and others. Just weird and funny and bizarre. I really like odd-ball acts - magic, street performers, Blue Man Group type of stuff, so this was right up my alley. Will Arnett is producing - wonder if he's hosting? It didn't indicate that or judges in the story. I really liked 'The Match Game' this summer. I don't usually like Alex Baldwin but he's really good as host and was just as kooky and fun as the original - which I also watched in its first run.
