This was complete down ... not one of those new carpeting, new paint and new comforter in a same old room deals that Disney is famous for. The bedding is high quality. The TVs are flat screen LCDs. The sinks, lamps and fixtures are top of the line. And, best of all for me, the rooms don't scream 'Mickey' at you. If not for the shampoo (which I'd never use) and Ivory soap (only the best at WDW!), and the views of the MK and Bay Lake, you'd not know you're at WDW. I'd compare the rooms to the Hotel at Mandalay Bay in Vegas and many of the 'W' Hotels.

I would love to feel pampered on this trip and sounds like these rooms may help. Thanks again Spirit.

For example, the WL is being worked on now, so I'll likely stay there in the near future. I don't know the status of the BW rooms, but I don't think they've ever had a total makeover in the decade they've been open. They likely had the half-assed version about 3-5 years ago. Also, realize, that DRC is never forthcoming about when their resorts were last renovated. You really need to rely on forums like this as well as CMs (including any in the family!) to get an accurate idea.

I've had rooms at the (in order) YC, CBR, and CS that were completely unacceptable. All since 2000, I might add.

And if he/she/it was not interested in helping make your stay better, I'd keep on going up the ladder. Dealing with someone at the front desk that says 'I'm the on-duty manager' is never going to get you anywhere I've learned. Of course, even dealing with Disney exes doesn't guarantee anything other than a headache ... unless you're not the type to give up and you have connections!

Theymove from building to building. If you talk to the front desk usually helpful CM's will tell you which buildings are under renovation and which ones have just been completed. Those just done at the way to go. (note: this trip was the first time I have been there where one building wasn't under renov.)

I then asked if someone could accompany me up to the room to look at it. Someone with seniority came and accompanied me up there. Before we even got there, they very pleasantly wondered outloud why someone would have given me this room, they even noted that for the length of my stay I should not have been placed where I was. So it or it's area already had some sort of stigma attached to it. After a very quick once-over I was apologized to and was moved. The person who accompanied me was very nice. Unfortunately housekeeping didn't do much throughout my 8 nights and when the trip was over I could certainly understand why my first room was in the condition it was in. Between the first room and housekeeping I just wasn't very motivated to return. Not with BCV and Polynesian, and even AKL as options. I did like being so close to Fort Wilderness. Good memories there.

Which is a sad commentary on the Disney Guest/CM dynamic.
