And the school has every right to decide what the students and staff wear. I've mentioned this before but my dad is a Principal for a public school here in Milwaukee. Most of these schools don't have a dress code. However, my dad did impliment a dress code policy. Nothing strict like this, but the clothing does have to be appropriate.

When I was a kid, we got assigned to a particular public school based on where we lived. As far as I know, the choices were that school or a private school. I don't think there was an option to send us to a different public school. Has that changed? I don't have kids myself, so I don't know how things work these days.

So moving to a different school would be difficult at times based on overcrowding, and sometimes not an option at all. It was a huge, contentious issue here.

Now I guess I feel sorry for the kids for having parents who would stick them in a school like that. ;-)
