As I have never heard of this movie before this mention, my question is.... Is this actually a popular thing? Is there already a market for this film and will kids and teens want do see this at DCA? Or is this just some random new movie and the DCA attraction is just the usual Disney Studios synergy marketing of their latest property?

Is Frankenweenie something cool the kids already know about and like, or is this just marketing blather to get you to go to the multiplex this Fall?

I liked (didn't love) the NBC movie, but I'm all for Frankenweenie getting some kind of temporary attraction in Hollywood Land. For me, Hollywood Land has been a giant missed opportunity since 2001. A small-scale limited attraction in Hollywood Land fits perfectly.

(BTW, the movie has a great trailer -check it out)

Just because you haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it won't be awesome. And vice-versa.

I do think it's funny that Al pegged the Muppets theater as being under-utilized, when it shows a relatively-popular film all day, and just wrapped up a 20 month stint pulling double duty with the Tron Legacy preview. If he wants to talk about a 3D theater being under-utilized, look no further than it's tough to be a bug!

The short was live action. The movie's going to be stop motion.

Frankenweenie is going to be up against Para Norman and Hotel Transylvania. We've got a bad case of Animated Halloween Movie Oversaturation this year.

Is it just me, or does Frankenweenie bear a strong resemblance to the dog in Family Dog? ;-)

It certainly was at San Diego Comic-Con. LP ran a full article about it just last Thursday:

No more "blather" than any other film promotion. And yes, the idea is to get people into seats.

If you look at the article (LP's), you will see the exhibit that is coming to DCA. And the 3D preview is a natural, as that was already done for TRON.

I think kids, teens, and even older folks will find the exhibit interesting, and enjoy the preview.

By the way, when I was at DL we somehow managed to hit the Haunted Mansion when it was a walk on with only about 10 people in our stretch room. When we entered the hallway to the doom buggies we stopped to admire the effects and ended up alone in the hall. Man, being in that empty hallway gave me the heebie jeebies!

I wonder which one will be the most successful?

OK, if you need me, I'll be in my "weep for my country" corner.

Just given that ParaNorman is made by the same people as Coraline is an instant must see. Coraline is an awesome movie, one of my all time faves.

You are correct. I love Coraline. Now I have to see ParaNorman.

I know! Last time we rode it, we were the last ones out of the stretch room. I know it sounds silly, but I actually felt relief when the stretch room doors opened again and more people filled into the hallway behind me. I've always been an easy one to scare. :)

The director of Coraline, Henry Selick, worked on Nightmare Before Christmas with Tim Burton and went to Cal Arts with him.

Also, Tim made the original Frankenweenie while working for Disney and was fired because it was too dark and scary.
