I'd fall asleep, have a nightmare and wake up and see by the clock that I'd slept just less than 5 minutes. And that's how the entire nights went. Nightmare, wake up, it's 2:05, nightmare, wake up, it's 2:10, nightmare, wake up, it's 2:15 . . . . . yuch!!

I have had trouble sleeping since I was a child. The symptom mentioned above is the most common and the worst. Sometimes I have a terrible time getting to sleep and still wake up in the middle of the night. I was on medication for it but even though I was sleeping more I was not feeling any more rested. Just recently I stopped all my meds and though my sleep is deprived I feel more rested. I think I am getting an average of 5-6.5 hours a night and it is not really enough. I would give just about anything for 9 hours of uninterupted, unmedicated sleep.
