    1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix {or 2 cups chocolate pudding}
    1 1/2 cups chocolate milk
    1 cup Cool Whip
    1/4 cup almond extract

    Pull Oreos apart and scrape off the filling,reserve for another use.Crush the resulting chocolate wafers.Add the melted butter and mix well.Press into an 8" pie pan and bake at 375 degrees for about 5 minutes.Cool.
    Make a chocolate pudding{if using a mix,substiute chocolate milk for regular milk}.Add the liqueur.
    Remove almonds from Almond Joys and puree candy in a blender,adding a little more liqueur and almond extract.Fold Almond Joy puree into pudding,then fold in Cool Whip.
    Pour into Oreo shell,decorate with reserved almonds{chocolate side up}and chill several hours before serving.
    Serves 6-8.

    It's from the 1980 book JUNK FOOD,a collection of articles and art that takes a sometimes nostalgic,but mostly satiric look at what we 20th century Americans eat.There's a running gag through the book about a supposed 1983 World's Fair that occupies the entire state of Illinois,which got incinerated in a mysterious fiery accident some years before---P.S. While the fair is in full swing,it happens again,only this time the entire state gets blown into orbit.
    Salvatore Bovoso and John Farago{two men about which I know nothing---professional avant-garde cooks,perhaps?}contribute several pages of recipes for dishes whose ingredients are largely made up of pre-packaged,processed food---"junk food"?---,all of which read like they may actually yield tasty dishes.
    This sounded a little easier to prepare than the other dessert recipe listed,Milky Way Mousse.
