    Anyone else still watching?

Tonight is....Orlando. Where did the auditions take place there?

So, like, this 60-something guy, who is CLEARLY not eligible for the contest due to the age limit, SOMEHOW gets through the screening process and gets an audition for the "main panel" anyway, and not only does the entire panel wax enthusiastic, but his song is also featured on the closing montage, *with other people singing it*.

Am I the only one who's not even slightly buying this scenario? Was I misled in some way by the clip, or was this all a preplanned setup by the show's producers to create a "viral" hit song? And if it's the latter, are AI fans OK with this?

I hope this doesn't sound too negative - I really am curious what the show's fans thought about it.

For instance, when they focus one a particular potential contestant, they often show a film package with the contestant at home or wherever. This must be filmed after the actual audition. So that person has to act like the audition has yet to occur...even if it already has occurred and they did not make the cut.

It's not the first time AI screeners have let through an old person. So it is definitely a set-up, but no more than when they send through any other clearly talentless contestant. They've merely been put through to round out the show. As for the actual song, maybe I am naive, but I think it's "genuine," and not something the producers planted. They merely ran with it afterwards.

I admit we watched the whole thing in about 15 minutes. There was one guy who was really good. I'm sure Randy said he was the best he'd heard all season, LOL!

I haven't seen any singer that has blown me away; the shows have been kinda boring. Although I've never seen a guy taken away with his wrists zip-tied together. Crazy.

Only the really good or the really "interesting" get told to come back for a third day, and those are the only people the on-screen judges see. It is possible, I guess, that the "this is me at home" video packages are done before that third day.

Yes, there is a LOT of editing - a lot of stuff we don't see.

As far as "Pants on the Ground" - the producers probably figured they could go viral with it, so they told the guy to come back and appear before the judges, and they had a bunch of other people there sing the song as well. We're sure to see this guy and hear his song again during the finale show... unless, of course, people are so over it by then that even the producer nix the idea.

Therefore, the contestant knows they made it past the initial audiiton process, but they haven't done the audition to go to Hollywood.

I was okay with the pants on the ground guy. He seemed genuine. Yes, it is a little contrived by AI, but I believe that he actually wrote and performed the song for the producers of the show. They liked it and ran with it.

I didn't get to see really any of the show last night. It was on the tv, but I never actually got to sit down and watch it.

    I'm ready for Hollywood!

That makes more sense than my scenario, but if a contestant lives hundreds of miles away from the audition site, how would they go about filming that person at home?

Makes sense now. Thanks!

No wonder why some of them get so upset or go off the deep end. If they have to travel to the audition site twice, and think they have a strong chance only to be told "no," all the time and money they spent to get there.... ouch.

Some people just want to get on TV.
