Sometimes I'm convinced I'm right even when a majority disagrees with me. Should I get bent out of shape? No. I just accept that I'm not going to change their minds and move on.

Generally that means you give reasons for while you feel the way you feel. Sometimes you convince people that your opinion is correct, sometimes not. You can't tell people not to discuss things or get mad at them for expecting you to back up your opinions; that's what discussions are...not just people shouting out opinions w/o rebuttal. If you want to state your opinions, rant about different things and not expect people to comment, start a blog. It's silly to tell people not to talk about things on a website that is precisely created for people to discuss things. If you tell people to just ignore certain topics or public figures, and then post your own rants about things...don't expect people to not point out the hypocricy.
