While 50% of the guest rooms will be stunned by wildlife and open savannah, the other half will be stunned by a very very poor parking lot view. It is my opinion that their is no exceptable reason why the design should only consider 50% of the guest rooms versus 90% or more. The original AKL design is so impressive in that 90% plus of the guest rooms face a nice view, other than a dreaded parking lot view. The only reason for such poor placement is a poor architect. Bad show design, very un-impressive. ESPECIALLY when the major draw of the resort is the animal views right from your room.

Here is the layout for the old and new structure's.

Your observation may very well be the case, but considering that DVC units could occupy much more space than a standard hotel room when you consider multi-bedroom units and kitchens, it could very well be that many units extend across the building to include both the savannah and parking lot sides. I have not idea if this is the case, but wouldn't necessarily draw the same conclusions just from looking at an artist's rendering.

Oh and there are plenty of regular rooms that get the parking lot view. If DVC folks get them too, seems fair to me.

the people who get parking lot views at AKL get them because they do not pay for a savannah or pool view room. it would only be fair for DVC folks to get a parking lot view if its less points then a savannah view.

My hope would be that the rooms carry different point values as they do at the Boardwalk.

The rooms are very nice. All rooms will have a DVD player (even the studio's) and the one bedrooms now have 2 bathrooms.

What I really like is that the AKL one bedrooms will sleep 5. It always seemed odd to me that a DVC one bedroom which costs twice as much as a studio will only sleep four when many of the studios (those with a day bed) will sleep five.

I never needed to sleep 5 in a one bedroom, but wanted to be able to sleep four without my 30 year-old son having to share a hide-a-bed with his 23 year-old sister. YUCK!!

Now we could all stay in a one bedroom without offending sensibilities.

Disney does a nice job with plantings and trees to minimize visual obtrusion.

(Check that out! -- I'm working on my vocabulary development, and this week I'm into the "O's")
