While voters may not always agree on the best candidate, voters can agree on one thing: Celebrating one of America's most coveted constitutional rights can be oh-so sweet.

McDonalds was the culprit/victim. You got game pieces with the name of the event, and you'd get a free drink if the US got a bronze in that event, fries if they got a silver, and a Big Mac if they got a gold. And the food came with more game pieces! They'd done it for previous Olympics, but they ended up taking a bath in 1984. A lot of people were living large and gaining weight during the 84 Olympics.

I also recall Mickey D's being mobbed at lunch time! I also seem to recall that in the long term it was a win for them because people kept coming back (out of habit I suppose) after the promotion ended. Plus if you won a burger, you still ended up buying a coke and fries, which are high markup items.
