Uggg...I'd rather have the flu!

I try not to look at photos, movies, it makes me miss it more. Or you can go cold turkey, that worked for me last year.

I called Mickey Mouse to try and set a date,
The boss says "no mice son, you gotta work late."

    Sometimes I wonder, what I'm a-gonna do,
'cuz there ain't no cure for the Disneyland blues.

Oh well, my mom and papa told me,
"Son you gotta earn some money,
if you wanna use the car to go to Walt's place next Sunday."
Well, I didn't go to work, told the boss I was sick...
"Now you can't have a churro 'cuz you didn't work a-late."

I'm gonna take two weeks, gonna have a fine vacation.
Gonna take my problem to DLRR train station.
Well, I called my travel agent and he said quote,
"I'd like to help you son, but you just missed Twain's boat."

    Sometimes I wonder, what I'm a-gonna do
'cuz there ain't no cure for the Disneyland blues.

Back on track with the thread...after 30 days I do just about everything. I look at all my old Disney pics, listen to all my Disney CD's and turn to "the Clones" for support. This might involve trip planning, going to Disney movies like Pirates or (shudder) an inferior NoCal amusement park and renaming all the rides to their Disney equivelants. We've even looked for Hidden Mickeys there. Unfortunately, it's not the fix we need but it does help pass the time until the next trip.

And yes... That's her! (I responded to your e-mail this morning. :)

My Disneyland blues help definitely comes from planning the next trip. I set that puppy in stone as early as possible after the latest visit (you can always cancel hotel reservations and hold SWA flights for later if necessary). If I know I've got one to look forward to, it makes things MUCH better! :)

And LP helps a LOT! Don't know what I'd do without this place and Darkbeer's photos, too.

We first went to DL in Sep. 2005 and since then we've had the Disneyland blues so badly that just listening to Remember...Dreams Come True made us tear up. It never got any easier until we started planning our trip for this year (also in Sep.) two months ago.
Unfortunately when we were planning our first trip it was all new and just pure excitement, but now planning this trip has a bittersweet edge because we know how much it's going to hurt when we get home and we may never be able to go again (we fluked this trip).
So it may not make it any easier, but we all understand exactly what you're feeling.

I handle the blues (and you beat me to the lyrics, alice, AND did a much better job that I could have) in many of the same ways you have. It's almost like the stages of grief.
    May I present October, 2006:
Denial: my husband does NOT have to leave DL (right after we arrived for a 3 day vacation) due to a family emergency!
Anger: why did I choose these days of all days to come? Our vacation is ruined!
Bargaining: Honey, will you promise to come back with me next year for our anniversary? (He is not one of "us".)
Depression: arriving back home, I avoid LP and anything Disney for months. I don't scrapbook and journal by souvenirs. I may never go back again!(think Scarlet O'Hara shaking her fist at the sky)
Acceptance: We'll be back in November 2007 (famously booked in the 2 star Candlewood Suites which once again brought me back thru the five stages) and I am so truly grateful for another chance to spend a few days with the most important person in my life in one of the most important places on earth.

May I repeat: I am so grateful!

I feel your pain!! I am also suffering from the DL blues.
Here is what I do to try to get over it:
    1) plan my next trip-88 days to go!!
    2) watch my "Bringing DL Home" DVD and the "ALL DL" 20 set DVDs
    3) Listen to my Official DL album while cleaning up/cooking dinner.
    4) wear my favorite Mickey shirts
    5) chat with a few of my scrapbooking friends about DL while we scrap our last DL trip.
6)check out DL travel planning books at the library
7)Fine tune my upcoming DL trip..maybe use the DL Express instead of Super Shuttle?? Spend waaaay too much time planning it and researching it.
8)Send a trip countdown email to my SIL every day until our trip.I send her a link from the Allearsnet website. A different ride each day!
    9) Help friends plan their trips which are this Summer(lucky dogs!)
10)Send in postcards to try to win a trip or anything from the YOMD giveaway.

Good luck getting over your case of the blues. I know it's hard, but having an upcoming trip makes all the difference in the world!!
