And, like others have said, the best prices are usually on Amazon.com. I wanted Remembering Walt...at DL it is $60; at Amazon, it's $48. Anyway, have fun.

It was the companion book to a museum exhibition on the development of Disney's architecture. It's a collection of articles written by various scholars and is illustrated with a marvelous collection of photographs and Disney artwork. It's not really kid stuff, but is a serious look at the history and impact of the Disney theme parks.

I've owned several of the books listed above, but this is the 'one' I recommend. It's about $53.

The Nickel Tour is the better of the two in my opinion. It’s also hard to find and pricey. I was lucky to get it at issue price. Even then for a college student $75 issue price was high. Both books are worth every cent – if you are a DL fan you won’t be disappointed.

A good website devoted to Disney Books is "The Ultimate Disney Books Network" <a href="http://www.pizarro.net/didier/" target="_blank">http://www.pizarro.net/didier/</a> Lots of books are listed there.

Two recently published books I'm looking forward to getting at my earliest excuse (and ought to be mostly about Disneyland) are "Walt Disney's First Lady of Imagineering, Harriet Burns" and "Wally Boag: The Clown Prince of Disneyland".

    Happy reading!

Inside story can be had for around $50:

    <a href="http://www.biblio.com/search.php?author=bright&format=&title=disneyland&keyisbn=" target="_blank">http://www.biblio.com/search.p...keyisbn=</a>

Another one usually not mentioned that I really, really like is Disneyland: The First Quarter Century, published in 1979/1980-ish by Disney. It is filled with excellent photos and some nice narrative about Disneyland as it stood after 25 years of creating magic.

    Can be had quite inexpensively:

    <a href="http://www.biblio.com/search.php?author=&format=&title=disneyland+quarter&keyisbn=" target="_blank">http://www.biblio.com/search.p...keyisbn=</a>

By the way, in case you hadn't noticed, I love www.biblio.com for out of print books, though I look at eBay and Amazon, too.

I adore this one. We bought it at the start of the 25th anniversary, along with my Silver ears. I must have read it daily for about 10 years. Love it.

That's good one, and two others of the same ilk (and probably also readily available on ebay etc.) are "Disneyland: Dreams, Traditions, and Transitions" which they put out for the 40th, and "Disneyland, Then, Now, and Forever," which they put out for the 50th.

The 40th is probably my favorite of the three, but all three have their strong points. The 40th has nice timelines for when attractions were put in, and the 50th has a lot of pages where they show "then and now" where they show, say, Critter Country, then the next pages say "What was there before Critter Country?" and they show you Bear Country, then the next pages say "What was there before Bear Country" and they show you the Indian Village.
