I have only used Priceline once for an Anaheim hotel, and I got an exceptional bargain: I think it was $30/night for the Marriott. As far as getting stuck in a smoking room, I imagine that is becoming less and less of a problem. California has some of the most widespread smoking limitations, and most businesses are banning smoking from their establishments. Anyway... I strongly recommend that anyone who contemplates using Priceline look at this site: http://p070.ezboard.com/bprice lineandexpediabidding Especially read the FAQ's so you will know exactly how Priceline works. Then you can proceed to making informed and succcessful bids.

We have had alot of fun trying different places this way. We have gotten the following hotels: The Hyatt Regency Orange Co., The Coast Anaheim (now its called the Sheraton Park), Marriott Suites, The Double Tree Hotel, The Hilton Anaheim, and the Raddison Maingate. The only one I didn't like was the Raddison because it was yucky! So that has cooled me a bit on using priceline. Our best experience was at the Hyatt. He have gotten that one the most, and it is very nice. One time we came in late, and they had ran out of standard rooms, so we were upgraded to gorgeous 2 bedroom suite! Sweet deal for $50! We were sorry we only got THAT for one night! Anyway, I prefer being within walking distance while at Disneyland, so that is why he haven't done it more. If that is not an issue for you, there are some incredible deals to be had if you are the flexible type.

I never ask for anything less than a three star. Have stayed at Doubletree, Hyatt, and Crown Plaza!

The Raddison is a little run down in my opinion. The pool area especially was bad. The cushions on the chaise lounges were torn up, and the pool was old and crackly and a bit moldy. The walls were also very thin in our room. Every time we use pricline, I have to cross my fingers and hope not to get it.

Sometimes it takes a couple of times before you get the price you want. I paid $45 for the Crown Plaza in May! I have never paid more than $60 using Priceline. When the price gets that high, I switch over to Hotwire--another great site! I use Hotwire alot for travel to other places as well. Always seems to be really good prices through them.
