Originally Posted By Darkbeer ^ I am not really sure about that... If you don't plan to go to the park on any of the Deluxe Blackout days... Parking is $49 extra for a Deluxe, and the price difference is $120. So do most people get $71 worth of discounts? Well, the food discounts are a lot simpler, 10% for Deluxe, 15% for Premium in park and at the hotels, so you would have to spend over $1,400 on food to make up the difference. Merchandise, well the Deluxe gets nothing in the parks, the Premium is 10%. So that is $710 worth of stuff you have to buy. All 4 AP's get the same DtD and Hotel discounts, so there is no savings in buying the most expensive pass. For most people, getting the Deluxe is the best deal (and if needed, adding parking), unless they plan to go on some blockout days.

What exactly does this mean? I think that is wrong! If you don't have a PAP, you don't get a discount in Disneyland but does this mean DTD or the Hotel Gift Shops? Everytime I read this, I think I am supposed to get some discount on merchandise but with "just" a DAP, I was told no way, no merchandise discount! Can someone clarify?
